Habitat restoration in Europe
Iām incredibly lucky in that I get to do something I love, that makes a tangibly positive difference to the world.
The process of making seedballs, that I have refined over the years, is not overly complex and I have always focussed on trying to ensure that the entire operation is as mobile as possible.
Habitat restoration projects can occur in many far flung parts of Europe and it can be beneficial to be close to the site and in a position to understand the topography, local fauna and the challenges inherent in helping nature return the area to a biodiverse and vibrant habitat.
I am currently working on a collaborative project with Ponda and Autospray systems in Somerset and Lincolnshire to restore marshland habitat, scattering seedballs from drones over many hectares. My aim is to gather more data on the efficacy and cost efficiency of using seedballs over other methods of planting.
I have a base in Parley, Dorset, Limerick in Ireland, Normandy in France, Poznan in Poland and now Vera in Southern Spain.
I produce seedballs for the local markets and more bespoke mixes for specialised habitat retsoration projects in conjunction with the local authorities.
